Electrical & Electronic Enclosures

An enclosure should fit the equipment, not the other way around. Infitra manufactures custom metal cabinets, panel boxes and equipment housings for industrial applications.

Electrical, electronic & outdoor enclosures: choose the complete specification

Electrical Control Panel Boxes configuration

Electrical Control Panel Boxes

Wall-mounted or floor-standing metal housings for control, automation and electrical equipment. Mechanical enclosure supply and any electrical assembly/testing scope must be specified separately.

Specify: Equipment layout, mounting plate, cable/gland entries, door arrangement, earthing studs, service clearances and heat dissipation.

Outdoor Equipment Cabinets configuration

Outdoor Equipment Cabinets

Custom housings for outdoor equipment, distribution and utility installations, with design choices driven by rain exposure, dust, corrosion, solar heating and access requirements.

Specify: Requested IP target, canopy/plinth, cable entries, gasket, lock, hinges, drainage/condensation strategy, ventilation or cooling and site mounting.

Electronic, IT & Instrument Enclosures

Equipment-specific housings for electronics, instrumentation, telecom and integration projects. Rack-mounted or standalone arrangements can be reviewed against the actual components.

Specify: PCB/equipment mountings, cut-outs, connector positions, service access, airflow, cable segregation and any separately specified EMC requirements.

Junction & Distribution Boxes

Compact boxes with hinged or screw-fastened covers for agreed connection and equipment layouts. Configure removable gland plates, internal mounting points and labels to the project.

Specify: H × W × D, material and thickness, entries, mounting plate/DIN rail provisions, cover type, gasket and protection requirements.

Material and finish options

Material / finishSelection considerations
Powder-coated CRCA / mild steelSpecify sheet thickness, pretreatment, colour/RAL, coating thickness and indoor/outdoor coating requirements.
Pre-galvanised GI or specified galvanised constructionAgree zinc coating, welded/cut-edge treatment, finish compatibility and corrosion exposure.
Stainless steel 202, 304 or 316 — by approved specificationConfirm exact grade and surface finish. Grade selection depends on moisture, cleaning chemicals and chlorides; these grades are not interchangeable.

IP protection: specify a target, verify the finished configuration

The IP code describes tested protection against solids and water under IEC 60529. It is not a general corrosion, electrical safety, explosion-proof or thermal rating. Open vents, fans, cable glands, hinges, door seals and site modifications affect the completed enclosure.

Requested IP targetGeneral meaning / selection note
IP45Protection against solid objects of 1 mm and larger, and water jets; not a dust-tight claim.
IP54 / IP55Dust-protected construction; splash protection / water-jet protection respectively.
IP65 / IP66Dust-tight construction; water jets / powerful water jets respectively.
IP67 / IP68Temporary immersion / immersion under specified agreed conditions. These are specialised targets and do not automatically imply water-jet protection.

Important: Do not treat this range of requested IP targets as certification of every Infitra enclosure. The required rating, complete configuration, test method and supporting report must be agreed and verified before a rated claim is made. IP67/IP68 feasibility is subject to a specific design review; hazardous-area requirements need a separate certified solution.

Configuration checklist

Overall and usable internal dimensions; equipment heat load; mounting plate; wall brackets or floor plinth; hinged or removable doors; detachable panels; gasket material; hinges; cam/multi-point locks; cable glands/entries; earthing points; ventilation; filters/fans; lifting and access provisions; finish and labels.

How to choose the enclosure

  1. Identify the equipment, component layout, maintenance clearances and future additions.
  2. Describe the actual indoor/outdoor environment: dust, rain, washdown, chemicals, sunlight and temperature.
  3. Agree material, corrosion protection and required IP target.
  4. Coordinate cooling with ingress protection; an unprotected vent can defeat the required seal.
  5. Approve drawings, accessories, cut-outs and any test/documentation requirements before production.
